Instead, on the Prime Minister's birthday, a staggering 100 crore rupees, drawn from the state's already depleted treasury, is being squandered merely on lighting lamps," Yadav told reporters.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday attended the 'Ashirwad Ka Diya' programme under 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' in Nagpur to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, where 500 beneficiaries lit lamps to offer blessings to the Prime Minister.

Public Accounts Committee chairperson KC Venugopal on Thursday said that the panel is examining “serious lapses by Railways” relating to passenger amenities that were found during the audit and noted that a meeting will be called again with Railway Ministry officials after a month to see if the shortcoming related to drinking water had been addressed.
