Patna (Bihar) [India], March 11 (ANI): Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Tuesday slammed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav following his remarks on BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur's statement, saying that they have shown Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb for decades, adding that RJD people are trying to spread "religious imbalance."
"Every religion, especially Hindu festivals, means that everyone celebrates festivals together. We have shown Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb for decades. A festival like Holi is one such festival when everyone celebrates together... RJD people try to spread religious imbalance, try to appease. This is not right," Chirag Paswan told reporters.
Earlier today, Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Singh stated that while Muslims can offer Namaz, there should be restrictions on how and where they perform it in relation to Hindu festivals.
"They can offer Namaz, we have no issues, but they can't say things like colour shouldn't fall within the distance of 20 meters or 25 meters from them because 'Pichkari' (water guns) has no measurement... it is the festival of our God," Singh said.
He further said, "Those who have issues, the way they cover Mosques with tarpaulin, they can make a headscarf with tarpaulin so that their skull cap won't get drenched."
Highlighting the difference between the frequency of religious events, Singh emphasized, "They can offer Namaz after 2 pm... Jumma comes every week, but what about Holi? It comes once a year only."
Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav hit back at Haribhushan Thakur's appeal to Muslims to "stay indoors" with - "Baap ka raaj hai kya?."
Further, Yadav slammed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for not taking action against the BJP MLA for his remarks.
The RJD leader also said that the Chief Minister was in an "unconscious state' for not call out the BJP MLA for his controversial statement.
This comes after a BJP MLA from the Bisfi Assembly constituency, Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul, sparked controversy for "appealing" Muslims to "stay indoors" on Holi, which coincides with a Friday during Ramzan. (ANI)
