Should have focussed on infrastructure rather than renaming Gurgaon: Congress to Khattar

New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): Choosing sarcasm to express his disdain over people getting stuck in Gurugram traffic due to flooding of roads, Congress national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that blame game and mudslinging continues between the Haryana government and Delhi government while people are in distress. "In Gurugram, there was an atmosphere of chaos because people were stranded in the traffic that lasted for almost 17 hours. People were forced to sleep in the cars and in some cases, leave their car behind and go. Blaming each other will not work. It is very unfortunate that at one side there is Kejriwal and on the other side it is Khattar government and Modi ji, who keep blaming each other, keep mudslinging," Surjewala told ANI here. Criticising Haryana Chief Minister M.L. Khattar, he said that instead of renaming of Gurgaon, the state government should have concentrated on creating essential infrastructure and building harmony. "This is very shameful for any elected government. Since two years there have been no cleaning of drains, they did not construct roads, did nothing about the traffic, or for the water problem here. Not even the road which was about 90 percent constructed by Congress, was not finished by them," he added. Heavy rains left corporate hub Gurgaon near Delhi struggling with massive traffic jams for hours on Thursday and Friday. Cars were stranded or crawling on miles of highway. The Gurgaon police advised people in Delhi to stay away and schools will be shut for two days. As heavy downpour brought Gurgaon to a standstill on Thursday evening, angry commuters took to social media to vent their anger. Within hours, Gurgaon was one of the top trends on Twitter. With over 12K tweets, #Gurgaon and #gurgaonrains were the top-trending hashtags on the micro-blogging site till today morning. (ANI)
