Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], April 9 (ANI): Congress leader Mumtaz Patel has lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut over her "bhediya" remark, saying that she speaks "without thinking" and has "shoot out of mouth syndrome".
"Kangana always speaks without thinking. She has shoot out of mouth syndrome. Let her speak whatever she wants, this shows what kind of parliamentarians BJP has," Patel told ANI.
Ranaut earlier attacked the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that the state was in bad condition and needed to be rid of the grip of "bhediyas" (wolves). Taking a dig at the BJP MP, Patel asked whether Kangana thinks Himachal is part of the country.
"If you are saying that progress is taking place in the country and not in Himachal Pradesh, is Himachal Pradesh not a part of this country? Doesn't PM Modi have a responsibility towards the people of Himachal Pradesh? Does this mean that only states with BJP governments will progress?" the Congress leader asked.
Patel further dismissed the notion of a "Modi wave" in the country, saying that 60 per cent of people voted against the BJP government. She added that it was not the Modi government in the centre but the NDA government.
"I will clarify that winning elections does not mean a wave is going on because 60 per cent of the people still vote against this government. At present, the Modi government in Parliament is in the minority. This is a coalition government. This is not the Modi government. It is the government of the NDA," she said.
Patel's reaction came after Kangana made these remarks while addressing a gathering in her parliamentary constituency, Mandi. The BJP leader took a dig at the Congress government on the controversy over the "samosa" probe in the state, which authorities later clarified was against "misconduct" by officials and not concerning the snack meant to be served to the Chief Minister.
Ranaut, who is not unknown to controversy, sought to compare the Congress government by referring to an attacking animal found in peninsular India.
"There is a wave of PM Modi in the entire country and saffron... But it is painful to watch Himachal Pradesh's condition... Their agencies are probing samosas. We feel embarrassed about what is happening... You work so hard on the ground; it is our responsibility to take our state on the path of progress. I would say they are Bhediya (wolves) in a way. We have to free our state from their claws," she said. (ANI)
