New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Congress leader Pawan Khera on Friday said that the BJP has relocated statue of Shivaji Maharaj from the prominent positions within the new Parliament complex as a part of revenge against people of Maharashtra who gave a befitting reply to the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.
Pawan Khera took a swipe at the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and called it a "Naidu Dependent Alliance or Nitish Dependent Alliance".
BJP registered win on 9 seats in Lok Sabha polls while Congres got victory on 13 seats.
Shivsena (UBT) got 9 seats , NCP (Sharad Pawar) got 8 seats and Shivsena (SHS) got 7 seats.
"The people of Maharashtra have given a befitting reply to them (BJP)...They could not win a seat in Ayodhya and now you can see how they are abusing the people of Ayodhya...NDA's full form is Naidu Dependent Alliance or Nitish Dependent Alliance."
Khera alleged that to take revenge from the people of Maharashtra for BJP's dismal performance in the Lok Sabha election, PM Modi removed the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue from the Parliament premises.
"When we launched a campaign to save the Constitution in the elections, Ambedkar's statue was pushed back to vent anger. Then when the people of Maharashtra gave a befitting reply in the elections, Shivaji Maharaj's statue was removed to take revenge," he said.
"The statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Babasaheb Ambedkar were removed from the Parliament premises...Narendra Modi said that no one knew Mahatma Gandhi before the movie Gandhi was released, but when the public responded, to vent anger Gandhi's statue was removed," he said.
Referring to the PM designate action of Bowing in front of the Constitution, Khera said, "When your ideological ancestors fired bullets at Mahatma Gandhi, they(Godse) too had bowed before him just as you were bowing before the Constitution today... When Rajiv ji was assassinated, that woman too had first garlanded Rajiv ji, bowed before him and then assassinated him, so today I was very scared when you (PM) were bowing before the Constitution."
Referring to the results of the just concluded Lok Sabha polls as the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark.
Khera also claimed that the BJP is afraid thats why the party has not chosen their leader but the alliance leader first.
"Has it ever happened that a party has not chosen their own leader but the alliance leader is chosen first? This shows their fear...You are dependent on the Nitish Dependent Alliance or Naidu Dependent Alliance...17 members of their cabinet have lost," he told ANI.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as their leader for the third time. This decision was taken during a crucial meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Delhi on Wednesday.
The NDA leaders expressed their admiration for Prime Minister Modi's leadership and the progress made by the nation under his guidance over the past decade. (ANI)
