Shinde takes on govt. over Parrikar's assertion on surgical strikes
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Oct. 13 (ANI): Former home minister and Congress veteran Sushil Kumar Shinde on Thursday said the ruling dispensation instead of making tall claims that the September 29 surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) was done for the first time ever should get their facts right by checking the records with the Ministry of Defence. Congratulating the Indian soldiers for carrying out the surgical strikes across the border, Shinde said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would get nothing out of the propaganda which they have been creating. "There is no need to create propaganda on surgical strikes and the BJP has no idea about the loss that would be done to them after this propaganda. Surgical strike was done two to three times during the UPA government, but is it something important to be told in international politics?" Shinde told ANI. "The ministers of BJP are saying that this has never been done before. They should check the records of Defence Ministry first and ask them as doing publicity is not right," he added. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had earlier asserted that the Congress' claims of carrying out the surgical strikes were false. (ANI)
