New Delhi [India], October 23 (ANI): Ahead of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's electoral debut in the Waynad Lok Sabha constituency, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla launched a scathing attack and called Priyanka "another dynasty product". He further pointed out why the ticket had not been given to someone from the local population.
"Congress has fielded Priyanka Vadra from Wayanad seat for (Lok Sabha) by-elections, the name of another dynasty product. A party that says 'jitni aabadi utna haq' forgot its own slogan. They should have given ticket to (someone from) the local population. Why did they not?" said Poonawalla.
Hitting out further, Shehzad Poonawalla said that the Congress is not a political party but a family company.
"The 'aabadi' there won't get its 'haq', only the 'parivaar' will get its 'haq' because Congress is a family company, it is not a party. It is the property of one family. One thing is clear, Congress will contest there, Left too can contest there - it had contested against Rahul Gandhi too. So, which one is the real INDI Alliance? Was Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's name put forth after asking the INDI Alliance? Is Left agreeing to this? What kind of alliance is this where they contest against each other? Which one is the real INDI? Priyanka ji or the Left candidate?..." he said.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will file her nomination for Kerala's Wayanad parliamentary by-election on Wednesday (October 23), in the presence of CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile, exuding confidence over the candidature of Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that she will emerge as a passionate champion of Wayanad's needs and a powerful voice in Parliament.
Earlier on Monday, Priyanka Gandhi met Kharge in Delhi to discuss campaign strategies as she prepares to file nomination for the by-elections in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. Vadra, along with Rahul Gandhi, will lead a roadshow from Waynad's Kalpetta New Bus Stand in the morning before filing the nomination on Wednesday.
After the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the bypoll, Congress declared Gandhi's candidature for the Waynad seat as part of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala. Senior Congress leaders will also remain present during Gandhi's nomination filing before the district collector in the afternoon.
After being active in politics for five years, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will make her electoral debut in the Waynad Lok Sabha constituency, where the by-poll is scheduled to be held on November 13. Along with this, the election commission announced by-elections in 47 assembly seats across 15 states. (ANI)
