New Delhi [India], August 29 (ANI): Launching a scathing attack on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala on Thursday said that she is insulting protestors and doctors when she says demanding justice is like causing unrest.
Poonawala further said that nobody is safe in West Bengal except criminals.
"Today, the whole nation, 140 crore Indians are demanding justice for the daughter of West Bengal, the reflection for which is seen in the statement of the President Draupadi Murmu. But on the other side, Mamata Banerjee's priority is not justice but revenge. When a CM says Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Northeast and Odisha will burn, I want to ask if Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, AAP or Gaurav Gogoi support this statement. Are the people who are demanding justice causing unrest? Or are the parents of the victim who is supporting this protest causing unrest? Or the Supreme Court and High Court which said that they have never seen such "institutional cover-up" is causing unrest? It is an insult to the protesters and doctors when Mamata Banerjee says that demanding justice is like causing unrest," Poonawala said.
Alleging that CM Banerjee has created unrest in Bengal since her reign, BJP spokesperson said that when the public calls a "band", they are attacked by bombs and bullets.
"The real unrest has been caused by her in West Bengal for the last 10 years which causes violence and assault on women. When the public calls a "band", they are attacked by bombs and bullets. Today, except criminals, nobody is safe in West Bengal," said Poonawala.
He further slammed the leaders of the INDIA alliance Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav for Mamata's statement of burning Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Northeast and Odisha and asked whether they would question Mamata in this regard or not.
"She is making anti-Constitutional statements and Rahul Gandhi, who roams around with a copy of the Constitution, does not speak a word on it. Is it constitutional to say Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Northeast and Odisha will burn? Will Rahul Gandhi speak on it? Will Akhilesh Yadav say something? Will INDI alliance say something on this?" said Poonawala.
Hitting out at CM Banerjee, BJP leader Anil Vij said that she is talking nonsense about burning everything from Bengal to Delhi because the smoke of the arson in Bangladesh has gone to her head.
In a social media post on X, Anil Vij wrote, "I think the smoke of the arson in Bangladesh has gone to the head of Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee. That is why she is talking nonsense about burning everything from Bengal to Delhi. It is important to treat Mamta Banerjee quickly."
The murder and alleged sexual assault of a female trainee doctor on August 9 at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital caused national outrage and many rallies have been held in different states of the country. (ANI)
