Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 7 (ANI): Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC on Tuesday said that action must be taken against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for "threatening" an election officer.
She alleged conspiracy on the part of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP leaders including Raghav Chaddha, Sanjay Singh and Arvind Kejriwal for "questioning" and "summoning" an election officer.
"Election officers are working with full integrity and impartiality. In the middle of the same, the AAP asks for information from political parties and says that this will affect the election process. Why is this conspiracy in which Raghav Chaddha, Sanjay Singh, Atishi and Arvind Kejriwal are questioning an election officer, summoning him to the office when they should be on the ground working in accordance with the law? Action must be taken against them for threatening an election officer," Shaina NC told ANI.
This comes after the New Delhi District Election Officer raised concerns over alleged pressure from AAP leaders, including Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh, who have been frequently visiting the officer's office to ask for personal details of objectors.
The officer claims that this is not mandated to be shared as per Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. The Officer wrote to Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer raising concern about political interference by AAP leaders amid their claims of voter deletion ahead of Assembly elections.
"Representatives of Aam Aadmi Party have been frequently visiting my office and are asking for personal details of objectors which is not mandated to be shared as per ECI guidelines," the District Election Officer's letter read.
DEO also accused AAP of attempting to put pressure by "asking for personal details of objectors and other such information that falls outside the purview of routine operations," the letter to the CEO of Delhi read.
The officer also alleged that Chief Minister Atishi has been calling for meetings without specifying an agenda, which has raised concerns about potential political interference.
In reply AAP MP Sanjay Singh said, ""He (DEO) is not a VIP. He has an answerability towards us... Their job is to look after the election process... Will we not meet him? Is he such a VIP that we cannot meet him?... If we talk about protocol, then a DM's protocol is much lower than a Member of Parliament yet we went to his office. He should feel respected. Is he not ashamed to make such statements? How are we threatening him? Is asking for information regarding voters and ghost objectors considered threatening?... The officers should be a little humbled..."

These allegations come amid AAP's claims of large-scale voter deletion in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. (ANI)
