Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 19 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday slammed Opposition claims and asserted that no projects have been transferred outside of Maharashtra.
This comes after ReNew Company clarified that they are not moving out of Maharashtra. Fadnavis said, "The opposition constantly defames Maharashtra. They tried to create a narrative that the ReNew power plant moved out of Maharashtra to Gujarat. ReNew itself issued a statement today and said that they are in Maharashtra and they have increased investment; they have given this kind of commitment. I think the opposition has had to face a setback."
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, on September 9, suggested that the BJP's actions are affecting Mumbai's status and resources, claiming, "Whatever we have seen, Amit Shah ji and Modi ji have taken all of it to Gujarat. Whether it is industry, trade institutions, or anything else, whether it is our land, they have taken everything to Gujarat because it concerns Mumbai's prestige."
Raut then expressed his concerns that the BJP might even move the Ganesh festival celebrations to Gujarat.
Addressing the broader issue, Raut said, "Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra. Marathi people have the first right over it, and 105 Marathi people have sacrificed their lives for this Mumbai. But you people are trying to break this Mumbai from us. If you don't have the courage to break it, then you are making Mumbai poor. You are taking everything back to your state. That is why we are afraid. This is the feeling in the minds of the people."
ReNew, a leading renewable energy company, clarified on Thursday that news carried in certain sections of media in Nagpur was misleading. The news reports stated that ReNew has "abandoned" its proposed project in Nagpur due to "unrealistically high power tariffs" and inconclusive discussions with government officials.
They alleged that ReNew is transferring its investment from Nagpur in Maharashtra to Dholera in Gujarat.
The news reports are "not only misleading and factually incorrect but also irresponsible," the company said in its response statement.
In Maharashtra, the company is planning to invest in the upstream value chain of solar manufacturing, and it is not investing in similar projects in Gujarat or any other state.
"ReNew is one of the largest renewable energy companies in Maharashtra and stands by its commitments in the state," the company said.
The company has an installed capacity base of 550 MW in Maharashtra and an additional 2000 MW under construction. It is on track to install 2000 MW by 2025-26, with investments of Rs 15,000 crore. (ANI)
