Sessions' court to hear Najeeb Ahmad's missing case on May 3
New Delhi [India], Apr. 6 (ANI): A sessions' court today stayed the March 30 order of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court, which asked all the nine Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students to appear before it and record their consent refusal to undergo the lie detector test in the case related to missing student Najeeb Ahmad. Senior Council Siddharth Luthra appeared in the session court on behalf of the nine JNU students. During the last hearing, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sumit Dass asked the nine students to appear before the Court "without fail". The court also turned down the submissions of nine students stating there is no law that allows a magistrate court to either direct or to record consent or refusal for conducting a lie-detector test. The matter will be next heard on May 3. First year M.Sc. student Najeeb, who went missing from the JNU hostel, was allegedly assaulted by the ABVP activists on October 14 last year during the poll campaign at Mahi-Mandvi hostel. He has been missing since October 15. According to students, the 27-year-old left the hostel without his wallet, mobile and footwear. (ANI)
