Patna (Bihar) [India], July 5 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Manoj Jha lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party after the party fell short of the majority mark on its own in the Lok Sabha elections, and said that people have given them a "shock" because of their "attitude."
He also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and claimed that his "replacement" is being searched within the BJP-RSS after the election results.
Speaking to ANI, Manoj Jha said, "You talked about 400 paar. You had a majority in 2014 and 2019, but this time you are 34 seats short of a majority. Accept this, the people have given you a shock and told you that the government won't be run with this attitude. People did not let you reach 272 seats."
"Has coalition ever mattered to you (BJP)? What did you do with Shiv Sena, Akali Dal and even Nitish ji and Chandrababu ji. Today, it is your need, but I know the Prime Minister's party and the organisation in Nagpur (RSS)...your (PM Modi) replacement is being searched, so think over that," he added.
Attacking PM Modi and the BJP further, the Rajya Sabha MP said that the BJP lost despite its slogan of 'Modi Ki Guarantee'.
"Even after 'Modi ki guarantee', 'bhains', mangalsutra, and 'mujra' you managed to win only 239. You should have said that I won't do any campaign using these words," Manoj Jha said.
The counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth winning 99 seats. The INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term, but the BJP will need the support of other parties in his coalition primarily -- JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
In Bihar, BJP-led NDA delivered a fine performance, winning 29 out of the 40 seats. The RJD and Congress won four and three seats respectively. (ANI)
