New Delhi, July 30 (ANI-Businesswire India): LexisNexis®, a leading provider of content and technology solutions for legal, corporate, tax, academic and government markets, announced launch of 'Corporate Directors - Roles, Responsibilities, Powers and Duties of Directors', at the India International Centre on Friday evening. Hon'ble Mr. Justice A K Sikri, Judge, Supreme Court of India, who was the chief guest of the function, released the book in presence of eminent dignitaries, including Hon'ble Mr. Justice Manmohan, Judge, High Court of Delhi ; Dr. Vishwapati Trivedi, Chairman, National Shipping Board and many other members from the bar and corporates. During the occasion, Hon'ble Mr. Justice AK Sikri said, "The Companies Act 2013 has ensured that there is a fair, efficient and transparent administrative framework by making Corporate Directors responsible and accountable for imparting their duties in an ethical and morally right way." He gave examples of the steel and banking industry to highlight the need and importance of good corporate governance practices. Justice Sikri complemented Mr. Makhija and the publishers LexisNexis for structuring the book in a brick by brick manner and including new and relevant topics/chapters on Women Directors, CSR, Corporate Governance, Related Party Transactions and Directors' Responsibilities. Congratulating the author on his achievement, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Manmohan cited his anecdotal experiences and applauded the author's and publisher's work. He mentioned that there is a need for a balance and hence professionally competent, experienced and knowledgeable directors were required for better corporate governance. Justice Manmohan said, "The author Mr. Ashish Makhija has impressive academic and professional credentials with deep knowledge and experience that make his book a must read for legal practitioners and corporate directors alike." He also mentioned about the chapter that covers talks about the need for directors to have a safety net and the tips offered by the author to achieve the same. The author Mr. Ashish Makhija said that authoring a book requires both inspiration and perspiration. He said that he was inspired by his father first who is also an author and by the judges and his seniors who gave him an opportunity to learn and gain more knowledge and experience. Mr. Makhija explained the need to build a safety net as penal consequences of any violations are much higher now than ever before.
