SC disposes off petition seeking to prevent Sasikala from holding TN CM's post
New Delhi [India], Mar 3 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday disposed off a petition seeking to prevent V.K. Sasikala from holding the post of Tamil Nadu chief minister. The apex court rejected the petition stating that the matter became infructuous as she has been already convicted in the disproportionate assets case, adding she is now not eligible for the chief minister's post. The Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) had filed the petition demanding that Sasikala should not be allowed to take charge until the graft cases she is involved in are resolved. Late J. Jayalalithaa, Sasikala and her two relatives IIavarasi and Sudhagaran were convicted in connection with a 19-year-old DA case. Sasikala has been ordered to serve a four-year-jail term and has also been barred from contesting the elections or holding office for ten years. (ANI)
