SC dismisses plea seeking CBI inquiry in Mulayam's DA case
New Delhi [India], Sept. 19 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed plea seeking CBI inquiry into the disproportionate assets case filed against Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family. Advocate Vishwanath Chaturvedi, who had filed a plea against Yadav in 2005, has approached the apex court and urged it to pronounce the verdict on his plea against the probe agency for its repeatedly changing stance. Chaturvedi claimed that he had filed an application against the probe agency in 2008 and the apex court had reserved the order but it has not been pronounced. Filing the application, Chaturvedi said that in March, 2007, the Court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged disproportionate assets by Mulayam Singh and his family. It was alleged that they had illegally accumulated assets worth over Rs.100 crores between 1999 and 2005 during Mulayam Singh's tenure as chief minister (2003-07). The petition sought an investigation against Mulayam and other family members. Being aggrieved, Chaturvedi had filed a plea in court to direct the CBI to go ahead with its probe and not to be influenced by the government which is dismissed by the apex court today. (ANI)
