"Sanjay Nirupam should probably join in 1-2 days": Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 6 (ANI): Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat said on Saturday that Sanjay Nirupam, who recently broke ties with the Congress, will probably join the Shiv Sena in one or two days.
Sanjay Shirsat said, "Sanjay Nirupam should probably come in 1-2 days. Eknath Shinde will decide whether he will contest the elections or not."
"PM Modi's eyes are first on Maharashtra and it is our job to give him output. We all have to come together and give this gift to him. Maharashtra does what it says," he added.
Former Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam, who was expelled from the party, on Thursday, claimed that the disciplinary action against him came following his resignation from the party's primary membership.
The senior leader was expelled from the Congress for "indiscipline" and "anti-party statements," Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal said in a statement on Wednesday night.
Earlier, Nirupam was removed from the list of star campaigners for the Congress party in Lok Sabha general elections 2024.
The action was taken for his recent remarks against INDIA block partner, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), amid seat sharing talks for the Lok Sabha election.
Shiv Sena (UBT) declared that its candidate, Amot Kirtikar, will contest from Mumbai North West, a seat that Sanjay Nirupam was keen to contest from.
Explaining what led to him tendering his resignation, the former Congress leader said, "When I got to know that they were in the mood to take action, I asked them not to waste their stationery and I will make an announcement today."
With 48 Lok Sabha seats, Maharashtra is the second-largest contributor to the lower house of Parliament after Uttar Pradesh.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 23 out of 25 contested seats, while the undivided Shiv Sena secured 18 seats. The undivided NCP, part of the opposition alliance, contested 19 seats and won four. (ANI)
