Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 2 (ANI): Hailing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on its centenary, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anurag Thakur on Thursday said that the Sangh Parivar has made significant contributions in "awakening India's ancient culture and eternal traditions".
Speaking to reporters, Anurag Thakur said that the Sangh Parivar has carried out "countless" activities that have benefited society across every sector in all parts of the country over the past 100 years.
"The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is completing a hundred years since its founding. We are celebrating its centenary year, and this centenary celebration is not just for an organisation; this journey is not just for the RSS, but symbolises the continuous pursuit of India's soul, culture, and national spirit. Over the past hundred years, the Sangh has proven that when you work selflessly, through discipline, organisation, service, even the impossible can become possible," Thakur said.
The BJP leader emphasised that the RSS has worked to unite society.
"The work the Sangh has done to awaken India's ancient culture, eternal traditions, and national character is unprecedented and worthy of respect. Today, in every corner of the country, inspired by the Sangh, countless works are being carried out in social service, education, health, rural development, the environment, and other areas," he said.
Marking 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday emphasised the importance of individual character building and the central role of the Shakha system in nurturing discipline and value-driven citizens.
Applauding the work done by the Swayamsevaks in maintaining dialogue with society-oriented individuals, the RSS chief said, "This includes both local and national-level organisations. Swayamsevaks continue to cooperate and engage in dialogue with numerous individuals who are actively working in society. The Sangh has drawn certain observations and conclusions based on its collective experience."
To commemorate the Sangh's 100-year journey, the Centre has released a special postage stamp and commemorative coin. The Rs 100 coin features the national emblem on one side and a majestic image of Bharat Mata in Varad Mudra with a lion, being saluted by swayamsevaks, on the other. (ANI)
