Samba police organises sports mela under civic action programme

Samba (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Dec. 25 (ANI): Continuing with the endeavour to strengthen police-public relations and to promote sports activities among the youth, the Samba district police in coordination with the district youth services and sports authority recently organised a range level sports tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) at the sports stadium in Samba.

Samba (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Dec. 25 (ANI): Continuing with the endeavour to strengthen police-public relations and to promote sports activities among the youth, the Samba district police in coordination with the district youth services and sports authority recently organised a range level sports tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) at the sports stadium in Samba. Events such as athletics, javelin throw, shot-put, discuss throw, cricket, football, volley ball, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi and tug-of-War were held. Jammu and Kashmir's Industries and Commerce Minister Chander Prakash Ganga inaugurated the tournament. Ganga applauded the district police Samba for taking initiatives to ensure the betterment of youth by way of channelising their energies in a positive direction. He appealed to the school children present to take advantage of such opportunities and exhibit their excellence in both sports and academics. Samba MLA Dr. Ravinder Manyal was the guest of honour. The other dignitaries present included Reshpaul Verma, Vice-Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Board for the welfare and development of other backward classes, Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner Samba and Durga Dass, Ex-MLA Hiranagar. Speaking on the occasion, the senior superintendent of police of Samba said such programmes help to remove social evils and neutralise anti-social elements. He said the youth are the future of the country and opportunities needed to be given to them. Raja Adil Hamid, Additional Superintendent of Police, Samba also welcomed the participating teams and requested all players to maintain a sportsman spirit. The tournament shall continue till January 10, 2017. (ANI)
