"Samajwadi Party is still waiting for MVA's response": Abu Asim Azmi

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 28 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Abu Asim Azmi on Monday said that the party does not want the secular votes to be divided in the state and they are still waiting for the response from Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) over sear-sharing.
In a post on X, he said, "Samajwadi Party does not want the secular votes to be divided in Maharashtra. SP is still waiting for the response of Maha Vikas Aghadi."
Furthermore, Abu Asim Azmi said that SP National President Akhilesh Yadav has expressed that the party wants to fight the elections with the alliance. If the alliance does not want to keep SP with it, then the party will fight the elections from where its organization is strong.
"SP National President Akhilesh Yadav has said that in Maharashtra, SP will first try its best to fight the elections with the alliance. If the alliance does not want to keep SP with it, then the party will fight the elections only from where its organization is strong. Also, the party will fight the elections only from where the alliance does not suffer any loss. There is no place for sacrifice in politics", he added.


The MVA allies, which includes the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and the NCP(SP) have announced to contest 85 seats each, which makes it 255 out of the 288 assembly seats in the state. The three allies are in the process of dividing another 16 seats. The rest 15 will be allocated to other INDIA bloc parties which includes Samajwadi Party, PWP, CPM, CPI, and AAP.
Earlier today, SP leader and MLA Abu Asim Azmi filed his nomination papers from 171 Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar Assembly ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections.
In his post on X, Abu Asim Azmi said, "SP has transformed the faith of Govandi into development in its three terms and will take it to greater heights for the fourth time with brotherhood and unity."
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde also filed his nomination on Monday from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly constituency, for the Maharashtra assembly election.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, MP Shrikant Shinde, MP Naresh Mhaske, MLA Pratap Sarnaik, former MLA Ravindra Phatak, CM's wife Lata Shinde, daughter-in-law Vrishali Shinde, grandson Rudransh were present when he filed his nomination.
Notably, Tuesday is the last date for filing nominations for the Maharashtra assembly elections.
Earlier today, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar filed his nomination papers from the Baramati assembly seat.
Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition MVA -- comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress -- have no stone unturned to secure victory in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
The BJP is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance alongside the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42. (ANI)
