Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 9 (ANI): Amid the ongoing G20 Summit held under India’s presidency, Congress leader Salman Khurshid has said that he is upset that China's Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have not joined the Summit held under India's presidency.
“From time to time, G20 will change from one country to another. Earlier it was Indonesia, after which it will be Brazil. For this, we have the opportunity in today's time, we welcome it and we are proud of it. What we are able to do in G20 and what we want to do will be reviewed later when G20 ends as leaders from all over the world have come, It would not be good to repeat or highlight our shortcomings in front of them. Whatever decisions these people take among themselves, I am saddened by the fact that today G20 is held under our chairmanship and neither Putin nor Xi could come,” Salman Khurshid said.
On the Opposition alliance winning the Ghosi assembly seat in the By-poll election held recently, Salman Khurshid said I am happy as this was the first auspicious event that happened after the INDIA Alliance.
“I am happy that this is the first auspicious event that has happened after the INDIA alliance. When there is an alliance, everyone contributes. It is a very spectacular victory whereas the BJP people believed that this seat in Ghosi cannot be taken away from them at this time,” he added.
Amid the Udhayanidhi Stalin remarks on Sanatan Dharma where he linked the Sanatana with "mosquitoes, dengue, malaria, fever and corona", saying that it should be eradicated and not merely opposed.
Salman Khurshid said, “This Sanatan Dharma is liberal, we know how much importance it has for humanity, therefore, if we have faith in Sanatan Dharma, then we should not give preference to these statements as some people wanted to spark debate on this.”
On being asked about the India-Bharat rant in the country, Congress leader has said that what can be said beyond if it is said in our Constitution that ‘India that is Bharat’.
“We have been saying I LOVE MY INDIA, we have been saying Bharat Mata ki Jai, we have also been saying Jai Hind. So, no one can make a law and say that you can not say Jai Hind. Will you just say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ or will you just talk about INDIA? When it is said in our Constitution that ‘INDIA that is Bharat’, then nothing can be said beyond that,” Khurshid said. (ANI)
