New Delhi [India], September 13 (ANI): Responding to the all-party meeting, convened by the Centre ahead of the Special Session of Parliament, the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), D Raja on Wednesday said that it is a "routine meeting".
"That is a routine meeting called by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister. But before calling the special session the government should have consulted the leaders of the opposition in both houses...Nobody knows what is the agenda for the special session. What are the issues that will be discussed?" the CPI leader said.
This comes after Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday said that a meeting of the floor leaders of all parties has been called on September 17, a day before the five-day-long sitting Special Session is scheduled.
The Special Session will be held from September 18 to 22.
"Ahead of the parliament session from the 18th of this month, an all-party floor leaders meeting has been convened on the 17th at 4.30 PM," Union Minister Pralhad Joshi posted on social media platform X.
"The invitation for the same has been sent to concerned leaders through email. Letter to follow," he added.
Meanwhile, 24 parties of the INDIA bloc have agreed to participate in the special session of the Parliament.
The opposition has also criticised the BJP-led central government for calling a special session of Parliament without disclosing the agenda.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament, which concluded last month, was held in the old Parliament building. The announcement of the Special Session came as a surprise in political circles with the parties gearing up for assembly polls in five states later this year. (ANI)
