Rose Valley scam: PMO denies giving instructions to CBI
New Delhi [India], Jan. 16 (ANI): The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Monday issued a clarification that it has not written any letters giving instructions to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Rose Valley scam. In a statement, the PMO said that a certain report has appeared in certain sections of the media regarding a letter purportedly written by the PMO to CBI on the Rose Valley case. "The report alleges that PMO has issued certain instructions to CBI in the matter. The said report is totally false and baseless. The said letter displayed media publication is a forgery. No such letter has been issued by the Prime Minister's Office," the statement added. The Rose Valley scam is considered as the biggest ponzi fraud in India in which thousands of small investors were allegedly cheated. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Bandhopadhyay was arrested by the CBI in the matter. The CBI had earlier on December 30 arrested TMC MP Tapas Paul for his alleged involvement in this scam. The actor-politician was a director in two companies of the Rose Valley, a leisure and entertainment group, that has been accused of illegally accumulating Rs.17,000 crores in small savings through a Ponzi scheme. The group has been under investigation for almost two years. (ANI)
