RJD takes on Bhagwat, says producing children 'a personal choice
New Delhi, Aug. 22 (ANI): The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Sunday criticized Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat for asking Hindu couples to produce more children and said that the latter has no right to impose his views on others. "Do you even realize that it is a matter of personal choice and does it need somebody like Mr. Mohan Bhagwat to arrive from Nagpur and tell people how many children they should have? What kind of state are we evolving? What kind of national ethos are we setting? RJD leader Manoj Jha told ANI. Janata Dal (United) Ajay Alok questioning the rationale behind Bhagwat's statement highlighted that people check their economic situation before planning about children. "No one has ever stopped anyone from producing more children; this is not a relevant question. The main problem here is controlling the population, there is no question of Hindu or Muslim," he said. Addressing a large of number of teachers in Agra on Saturday, Bhagwat said there is no law in the country that prevents Hindus from having more children. "Which law says that the population of Hindus' should not rise? What is stopping them when population of others' is rising? The issue is not related to the system. It is because the social environment is like this," he said. (ANI)
