Katihar (Bihar) [India], November 3 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday slammed the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), saying the party has had a history of being "anti-development."
Addressing an election rally in Katihar, PM Modi claimed that the RJD, during their regime in Bihar, denied the people roads and electricity.
He said, "These days, even the RJD has been forced to make false claims about development. Otherwise, they have had a history of being anti-development. When people demanded roads, the RJD would say that building roads would risk accidents. At that time, people demanded electricity, and RJD leaders would say, if electricity comes, they'll get electrocuted and die."
Lauding Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for 'sushasan', he added that the NDA government brought Vande Bharat trains, roads and expressways in the State.
He said, "These people (Mahagathbandhan) kept Bihar in misery for decades because development was never on their agenda. Under Nitish Kumar's leadership, the NDA gave Bihar 'Sushasan' (good governance). It brought development. Where there was despair and frustration during the Jungle Raj, good governance brings new dreams and new resolve."
"People have unwavering faith in us that only the NDA government can fulfil their aspirations. That's why, wherever rail has reached, there's a demand for high-speed Vande Bharat trains. Where roads have reached, there's a demand for expressways. Where small hospitals have opened, there's a demand for super-speciality hospitals," the Prime Minister added.
BJP has fielded Tar Kishore Prasad in the Katihar Assembly constituency, who has won the seat in the last three elections.
Katihar will undergo polling in the second phase on November 11.
Earlier today, PM Modi launched a fierce attack against the RJD and Congress during a rally in Saharsa, accusing the Opposition of glorifying the era of 'Jungle Raj' marked by violence, corruption, and fear, while asserting that the NDA government restored good governance in the state.
Addressing the public gathering, PM Modi said the RJD-Congress's "dictionary" defined corruption and misrule.
"In the dictionary of RJD and Congress. What words, what emotions are there? The dictionary of RJD and Congress is filled with words like 'katta', cruelty, bitterness, bad manners, bad governance, and corruption. This is all they learned in the school of Jungle Raj," PM Modi said.
PM Modi accused the Opposition of prioritising infiltrators over Bihar's citizens. "Be it Congress or RJD, they are only attached to infiltrators. These people undertake political tours to protect infiltrators. Tell me, will you decide Bihar's future or will the infiltrators decide?... These infiltrators are occupying your property, staking their claim on your resources... Bihar needs to be protected from infiltrators...We are working to remove these infiltrators," he said.
The polling for the Bihar assembly elections will take place on November 6 and 11, respectively, and the result will be declared on November 14. (ANI)
