Rift in Samajwadi Party should not strengthen BJP: Congress
New Delhi [India], Jan. 2 (ANI): Asserting the ongoing tussle of power within the Samajwadi Party in their internal matter, the Congress on Monday said that rift should not directly or indirectly strengthen the hands of the BJP or others. "There is of course a larger issue that is why other political formation would be concerned and that it should not directly or indirectly strengthen the hand of the forces like the BJP," Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi told ANI. Singhvi further said there is a much larger issue which is causing concern over other right thinking parties and hoped the rift in the party is not causative effective, indirectly or directly. A national convention held on Sunday declaring Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav the new national president of the Samajwadi Party. The convention declared Mulayam as the Samajwadi Party's patron. Admitting that he has taken a 'tough' stand, Akhilesh justified the turn of events in the Samajwadi Party. "Sometimes to protect the ones you love you must make the right decision. What I did today was a tough decision but one that I had to take," he tweeted. (ANI)
