Results of elections will be declared after 'Matganana', not 'Manganana': Akhilesh Yadav

"The result of the election will come from 'counting of votes', not from 'counting of thoughts'! 'Mann ki Baat' (one's thoughts) does not apply to elections, only 'Jan ki Baat' works. When the public is aware and vigilant, no one can do as he pleases," Yadav said in a post on 'X'.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 3 (ANI): Dismissing the predictions of exit poll results which show a favourable outcome for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the results of elections to the Lok Sabha will be declared after "Matganana" (counting of votes) and not through "Manganana" (counting of thoughts).
Yadav hinted at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popular radio talk show 'Mann ki Baat' in which he interacts with countrymen and speaks about various initiatives taken by his government.
Earlier on Saturday, Yadav exuded confidence in the INDIA bloc forming the government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections results will be declared on June 4 and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not cross 140 seats.
"INDIA alliance will form the government The truth is that the one who is sitting facing the sea has turned his back on the public. The people are also against them. What does '400 paar' mean? They (BJP) will not go beyond 140," Akhilesh Yadav told ANI on Saturday.
The voting for the 543-member Lok Sabha was held simultaneously with the Assembly elections in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. While the long drawn-out voting process spread over seven phases concluded on Saturday, the counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is poised for a hat-trick win in Lok Sabha polls with a massive majority, exit polls predicted on Saturday and indicated that the ruling party at the Centre would improve its performance in several states ruled by other parties.
A few exit polls predicted that the BJP-led NDA could reach the goal of "400 paar" stated by BJP leaders in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls.
The exit polls predicted that the ruling BJP-led NDA is poised to improve its performance over its 2019 record when it won 352 seats. Two polls predicted the BJP also improving its numbers from the 303 seats it won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
The NDA is likely to win as many as 74 seats out of 80 in Uttar Pradesh, the state that contributes the maximum number of seats to the Lok Sabha, as predicted by the Matrize-Republic exit poll on Saturday.
The Samajwadi Party which was in the INDIA bloc contested 62 seats in Uttar Pradesh, leaving 17 seats for the Congress and one for the Trinamool Congress.
The Narendra Modi-led BJP is seeking a third term in power, while the opposition INDIA bloc is aiming to wrest power by stopping the juggernaut. (ANI)
