Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 17 (ANI): Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad alleged that the hospital fire in Jhansi that claimed the lives of 10 newborns was a result of the state government's incompetency.
Speaking to ANI, Prasad offered his condolences and said that the incident was "very sad and heart-rending."
"It is a very sad and heart-rending incident. This incident happened due to the result of incompetency of the government. Now we demand from the government to investigate the whole incident and take action," he said.
He said that the Yogi government talks about division but the people of Ayodhya making us win, showing that the country will not run on religion and division.
Speaking to the media, he said that the state government is engaged in divisive politics rather than focussing on issues.
On the issue of religion and politics, Prasad made it clear that the Samajwadi Party does not indulge in divisive politics. "We do not engage in politics over religion, whether it is about going to temples or issuing fatwas. We believe in inclusive politics. We will go to both temples and mosques, taking everyone along," he asserted.
He also reacted to Kangana Ranaut's support of the slogan 'Batonge to katonge (If you divide, you will be cut)', said "This government does politics only on dividing, not on uniting. We, the Samajwadi Party, work on uniting,"
The poll body has announced by-polls for nine of the 10 vacant assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on November 13, except Milkipur of Ayodhya district. The nine assembly seats where bypolls are being held include Meerapur, Kundarki, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, and Katehari. The counting of votes is scheduled for November 23. (ANI)
