Latur (Maharashtra) [India], November 14 (ANI): BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal has alleged that the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) had adopted divisive politics and reports indicate that the rruling Mahayuti will register a massive victory in the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra.
Campaigning for BJP candidate Archana Patil Chakurkar in Latur on Wednesday, Goyal said, "After being troubled by the divisive politics of Sharad Pawar and the Congress, it is now decided that Mahayuti will win. The reports are coming which indicate that Mahayuti will register a massive victory and a stable and strong government will be formed in Maharashtra."
He further said that in the Lok Sabha polls, there was only a difference of two lakh votes between the MVA and Mahayuti, which the MVA got by building a fake narrative.
"You can misguide people only once through your fake narratives. Sharad Pawar was in the centre for 10 years but he did not do anything for either the farmers or the Maratha. When the double-engine government of PM Narendra Modi and Mahayuti worked together, it benefitted the farmers. Deshmukh family is running a politics of lies and dynastic in Latur," Goyal said.
Archana Patil Chakurkar, daughter-in-law of former Lok Sabha Speaker and Congress leader Shivraj Patil, is pitted against Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh, son of former Chief Minister late Vilasrao Deshmukh in Latur.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections MVA won 30 of 48 seats, and the Mahayuti won only 17 seats.
Earlier on Wednesday Union Home Minister Amit Shah at a rally in the Chalisgaon area of Jalgaon district expressed confidence in the Mahayuti government winning the elections.
"On 23, Aghadi's supra saaf hone wala hai, Mahayuti government will be formed. After the Lok Sabha's election Rahul (Gandhi) was really happy, and during Rajasthan relections they said that they will win, they will win, but when the results came out, then they were deflated. In Haryana, BJP government was formed. In Jharkhand there are elections going on, there too the BJP government will be formed," Shah said.
Campaigning has intensified for the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra with both the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) making efforts to woo the electorate. The polls are scheduled for November 20 and counting will be held on November 23. (ANI)
