Kanpur [India], Nov. 20 (ANI): Scenes of desperation and pain witnessed at the site of the Indore-Patna Express accident at Pukhrayan in Kanpur Dehat district as near and dear ones of the victims and injured came looking for belongings in the mangled remains of coaches. In one of the worst accidents in recent years, where more than 100 were left dead and above 150 injured, Kanpur Dehat District tehsildar Ram Dayaal on Sunday said relatives of the victims and injured are coming to collect their belongings. "Many people were killed and several others injured in the accident. In order to return their belongings, we tried to retrieve their contacts for their luggage, ladies purse. We have found some numbers and called their relatives," Ramdayaal said. "Many relatives have come, and we are indentifying the luggage through the hints and clues that they are giving. Since morning, more than 20 families have come up to take belongings of their loved ones, whereas many relatives could not come, but the belongings are safe and will be handed over to the District Magistrate in the evening," he added. Tehsildar further said, "We are identifying relatives through Id proofs, passbooks, jewellery and by amount of cash in the wallet of a deceased." The death toll has risen to 103 in the Indore-Patna express accident near Pukhrayan of Kanpur Dehat district in Uttar Pradesh early this morning. More than hundred passengers were injured. The incident took place at around 3 AM near Pukhrayan, about 100 kms from Kanpur. 14 coaches of the train derailed.(ANI)
