Rajya Sabha adjourned till 11:30 over demonetisation row
New Delhi [India], Nov. 17 (ANI): The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 11:30 a.m. following an uproar in the house over the issue of demonetisation. The Rajya Sabha had resumed the discussion on demonetisation today on the second day of the winter session of parliament yesterday. The Upper House began the debate after suspending all business in response to notices given by a host of opposition members. During the course of a 7-hour debate on Wednesday, the opposition took on the government saying the move to demonitise high currency notes is ill-conceived and it had led to economic anarchy in the country. Rejecting the allegation, the government said, the move is in the national interest which has been hailed by the common man. It said the opposition should clear its stand on corruption. The Lok Sabha was adjourned yesterday after paying tributes to members who passed away. Congress and Trinamool Congress have sought adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha today for discussing the demonetisation issue. (ANI)
