Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 28 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajendra Rathore on Thursday heaped praise on the present state government led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, stating that the latter is committed to punishing criminals.
"There is not an iota of doubt that crimes and criminals were out of hand during the past five years. The then-Chief Minister Ashok Gehlotjii was busy tracking phones of his colleagues. And he employed corrupt officers on the field. Now, the government led by CM Bhajan Lal Sharma is moving forward to suppress crimes and criminals with strong intent. You will soon see the outcomes," Rathore told ANI.
Meanwhile, speaking on the Jaipur-based incident in which a woman was crushed by a car, he said, "This is true that nobody knows when which incident comes to light. Such incidents, in which a woman was gang-raped in front of her husband, have been reported in the past. In the Gogamedi murder case, the culprits were behind bars within 72 hours following the incident. The present Rajasthan government is committed to punishing criminals."
Earlier on Tuesday, a woman was killed and her friend was severely injured when a man allegedly hit them with his car after a heated exchange in a hotel in Jaipur's Jawahar Circle area.
Meanwhile, speaking on the state cabinet which is yet to be formed, Rajendra Rathore said, "The decsion will be taken soon. The BJP selects the best of its people keeping in view all the parameters and aspects. Our top leadership is working on this."
The opposition leaders have been questioning the Sharma-led Rajasthan government over the delay in the formation of cabinet.
Earlier, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that due to the delay in the cabinet formation, the governance has come to a standstill.
"Disappointment has now started spreading among the public because the people of Rajasthan gave a clear mandate to BJP on 3rd December, but even after 22 days, the cabinet has not been formed yet, due to which governance has come to a standstill. Every department is also in a state of confusion. The public is watching which ministers they should approach to solve their problems. The cabinet should be formed as soon as possible so that the functioning of the government can run smoothly," Gehlot wrote in a post on 'X'.
"It has also come to light through the media that treatment is not being provided by private hospitals under the Chiranjeevi scheme. The present government should also clarify the situation regarding the schemes of our government so that the public does not face any problems and the previous system should continue till a new system is implemented," he added.
