Rajasthan CM urges PM Modi to enact social security law for whole country

Dausa (Rajasthan) [India], October 20 (ANI): Addressing a public meeting in Rajasthan's Dausa on Friday, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot repeated his request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to formulate a 'Right to Social Security Act' for the whole nation.
"I would like to demand that the Prime Minister formulate a Right to Social Security Act like it has been implemented in other nations. You talk about becoming a 'Vishwa Guru', this is possible only by providing social security to the citizens," Ashok Gehlot said in Dausa.
The Rajasthan Chief Minister had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the implementation of the social security earlier in September as well.
Ashok Gehlot also mentioned Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and said, "I welcome Priyanka Gandhi, wholeheartedly. Today she has come to visit Rajasthan's Sikrai and address the public."
"The enthusiasm that you have here is proof that your love, blessings, your faith are with us, with the Congress party," he added.
Speaking in a press conference in Rajasthan's Kota last month, Gehlot had said, "I would like to demand that the Prime Minister formulate a Right to Social Security Act like Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi formulated four Acts - Right to Information, Right to Education, Food Security Act and MNREGA. You (PM) should be on the same line and formulate the fifth Act: Social Security Act."
Earlier in the day, AICC Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi was scheduled to hold a meeting in Dausa.
Sachin Pilot on Thursday said there was excitement among party workers following Priyanka's visit and asserted that the party will form the governments in all five poll-bound states.
The counting of votes for the 200-seat Rajasthan Assembly, along with those for four other poll-bound states, has been scheduled for December 3.
Congress emerged as the largest single party in the 2018 Assembly polls, with 101 seats, and formed the government with the support of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
While the BJP has already put out its first list for the Rajasthan polls, which features as many as 7 sitting MPs, the Congress is yet to come out with its list of candidates.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has announced that the first phase of polling for 20 seats in Chhattisgarh will be held on November 7, and the remaining 70 seats in Chhattisgarh will go to polls on November 17.
Polls will be held in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25 and Telangana on November 30.
The counting of votes will take place on December 3 in all the states. Of the five states, polling in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases.
The Model Code of Conduct has come into force with the announcement of poll dates. The elections to five states are crucial as they are being held months before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May next year. (ANI)
