Rajasthan bypolls: Congress suspends rebel leader Naresh Meena

The suspension order was issued by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Congress' Rajasthan in-charge.

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], November 7 (ANI): The Congress on Thursday suspended its rebel leader Naresh Meena for contesting the bye-election to Deoli Uniara assembly constituency as as an independent against the official party candidate.
The party releases the notification regarding the suspension of party leader Naresh Meena.
The suspension order was issued by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Congress' Rajasthan in-charge.
The by-polls in Rajasthan on seven seats including Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Khinwsar, Chorasi, Salumbar, and Ramgarh will be held on November 13 with results to be declared on November 20.
The by-polls on these seven seats were necessitated after two MLAs died and five others were elected to the Lok Sabha.
Notably, of these seven seats, five were held by the Congress and its ally (Bharat Adivasi Party), while the BJP and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) held one seateach.
Earlier on October 15, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced by-polls for 48 Assembly constituencies and two Parliamentary seats alongside the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections .
The by-polls on 48 constituencies are spread over 15 states - Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. Voting for the first phase, covering 47 Assembly constituencies and the Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala will take place on November 13.
The second phase will occur on November 20 for the Kedarnath Assembly constituency in Uttarakhand and the Nanded parliamentary seat in Maharashtra. The counting of votes will take place on November 23. (ANI)
