Rain Rain Go away', say 'waterlogged' Mumbai residents
Mumbai, Aug 5 (ANI): With spells of heavy rain causing serious water logging in several parts of Mumbai, residents of India's business capital are hoping for the Rain Gods to put a break and stop the rainfall. The whole city on Friday was seen flooded with water which paralysed traffic movement and disrupted rail traffic as well as of flights. The downpour led to water logging in parts of south and central Mumbai as well as eastern and western suburbs, leading to major traffic snarls in the morning peak hour. Several diversions were made, especially for BEST buses, to smoothen the movement of traffic in the city as well as in the suburbs. Traffic moved at a snail's pace on major thoroughfares in the city, delaying tens of thousands. The rains have badly affected train services on both Central and Western Railways. While trains continued to be late, water logging on tracks was witnessed on a large scale. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rains over Mumbai and coastal Konkan region over the next 48 hours. As a precaution, all major services like the police, fire brigade, NDRF and others are in a state of high alert. (ANI)
