Rahul must do homework on India's interests before mocking PM's foreign trips: BJP
New Delhi [India], Sept.5 (ANI): Coming down heavily on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to foreign countries, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said he must do homework in order to understand the strategic and diplomatic importance before misleading the people. Speaking to ANI, BJP leader and Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that it was because of the Prime Minister's visit to foreign countries that India was able to get 55 billion dollars as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). She said despite Rahul Gandhi's best efforts, the Congress Party would not be able to form a government in Uttar Pradesh. "The Congress vice president seems to be talking a lot about the Prime Minister's foreign visits. What it does to this country's prestige, what it does to our strategic and diplomatic affairs, is something that I suggest he does a bit of homework rather than speaking to mislead the people. In terms of investment from the very same courtiers from where the Prime Minister had made its visits, we have been receiving a lot of FDI that touched 55 billion dollars, which is unprecedented. So, the Congress vice president may try his very best and have any kind of strategy in U.P., the Congress is not forming a government in the state irrespective of the efforts he may put. But the speeches that he makes should be accomplished with a bit more home work about what the government is doing at the Centre," Sitaramn told ANI. Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's frequent foreign visits, Rahul Gandhi on the second day of his month-long 'kisan yatra' in Gorakhpur said, "I want to remind Modi that he is the Prime Minister of India. He keeps travelling to other countries all the time, but he seems to have forgotten the poor condition of his own people in the country." (ANI)
