"Rahul Gandhi's vote chori campaign doesn't even have resonance beyond his own house": BJP's Jaiveer Shergill

New Delhi [India], October 26 (ANI): BJP National Spokesperson and Supreme Court lawyer Jaiveer Shergill has rubbished Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations of 'vote-chori', calling it baseless and an attempt to escape "accountability and answerability."
Shergill took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi when asked about the Congress MP's 'vote-chori' campaign's reach, saying "it doesn't even have a resonance beyond his own house."
In a podcast with ANI, the BJP leader claimed that Congress is on the verge of becoming the far-left militant organisation Communist Party of India (Maoist) because of "Rahul Gandhi's extreme left-loaded, guided and influenced ideology."
CPI (Maoist) was banned in the country under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) during the Congress-led government in 2009. The ban has been periodically extended since then.
"I always say India will never become Nepal, but the Congress party is on the verge of becoming CPI Maoist, because of Rahul Gandhi's extreme left-loaded, guided, influenced ideology and of his 'chachajis' sitting abroad. Rahul Gandhi wants to win elections on behalf of Chacha Soros, not Chacha Chaudhary. Vote theft isn't real. Rahul's logic was stolen long ago. It's voter awareness. Sadly, India deserves a better Leader of the Opposition," Shergill said during the podcast.
George Soros, Hungarian-American billionaire philanthropist, has been accused by the ruling BJP of acting against India's interests. The BJP has repeatedly criticised Congress leaders for their alleged link with the US-based Soros Foundation to "defame" the country.
He further accused Rahul Gandhi of being "lost like Alice in Wonderland" and claimed that his frustration is "dangerous and injurious to Indian democracy."
"BJP has always believed India wants and deserves a stronger opposition. But Rahul Gandhi has forgotten the basic mantra of Indian politics, and that in your hate for Prime Minister Modi, do not start hating the nation. If you cannot win the match in the stadium, do not make attempts to burn the stadium," he said
Shergill also questioned Rahul Gandhi's recent foreign trips, saying, "Can he not win or fight elections without saying India will become Nepal, Gen Z? Why Rahul Gandhi has to go abroad and ask for foreign interference, has to say democracy is in danger? Why does he start demanding proof of how many jets were down in Operation Sindoor? Why his INDI Alliance partners said what is BJP talking about Naxal Mukht Bharat? First, they spoke about Congress Mukht Bharat."
"Rahul Gandhi is lost like Alice in Wonderland. His frustration is dangerous and injurious to Indian democracy," he added.
Rubbishing the vote-chori allegations, Shergill said that it is nothing more than a "chor-darwaza" being created by Rahul Gandhi to "escape accountability and answerability."
The BJP leader further said that Rahul Gandhi's conduct has proved that his allegations are "hollow and lack strength."
Slamming Gandhi for not filing an affidavit under oath on his allegations, Shergill said that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha is well aware and has been reprimanded by the Supreme Court twice for giving wrong statements.
The BJP leader asserted, "Rahul Gandhi's conduct itself proves that his allegations are hollow and lack strength. On October 1, the Bihar SIR exercise was completed, and 69.8 lakh voters were deleted, mainly due to migration and duplication. Till the completion of the exercise, why Rahul Gandhi or his associates not filed a single official complaint against inclusion or deletion?"
"Rahul Gandhi has not filed an affidavit on oath because he believes the Election Commission is like the UPA cabinet, that they are bound to do what he says? No, he is very well aware. He has got reprimanded by Supreme court twice for giving the wrong statements. Giving wrong evidence, wrong statement on oath as a lawyer is an offence punishable with imprisonment," Shergill added.
The BJP leader further argued that if vote theft allegations were real, the BJP would have won many more seats than 240 in the last Lok Sabha polls, and the Congress would have been reduced to single digits.
"If vote chori was a reality, BJP from 240 would have been on 440 and Congress from 99 should have been on 9. The opposition has got the highest vote share in 35 years to 41.9 odd per cent. That is the reality. Which dictator, which hijacking democracy exercise involves the Leader of Opposition winning from two seats, then him vacating one seat, then his sister winning from that seat. This is strange," he stated.
Rahul Gandhi has alleged "vote-chori" multiple times across the country, claiming the Congress lost the elections to the BJP by a narrow margin. At a meeting of senior All India Congress Committee (AICC) leaders chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on August 12, he said the party would release details of these seats in phases.
The Election Commission has rejected the allegations and asked Rahul Gandhi to sign an affidavit, which he refused, saying he had already sworn an oath to the Constitution.
Rahul Gandhi had earlier led a 16-day-long 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in poll-bound Bihar to highlight his charge of "vote theft" and alleged manipulation of electoral rolls by the BJP and the Election Commission. (ANI)
