Lumding (Assam) [India], April 15 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi have "no respect for Lord Ram."
"We invited Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Temple. There was no matter of Congress or BJP; everyone should come and join the Pran Pratishtha of Prabhu Shri Ram. But the Congress didn't participate in the programme of Pran Pratishtha. When you saw the Ram Temple, Pran Pratishtha ceremony, on TV, at that time Rahul Gandhi was busy staging dharna in Nagaon. That means he has no respect for Prabhu Sri Ram, or Shri Krishna. When we all were seeing the Pran Pratishtha programme on TV at that time, Rahul Gandhi was doing Tamasa by sitting on the road," Himanta Biswa Sarma said in his speech while addressing an election campaign rally at Lumding in Hojai district for the BJP candidate for Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat Kamakhya Prasad Tasa.
Hitting out at the Congress party, the Assam Chief Minister said that, only the Congress party can use bad language against Prabhu Shri Krishna and Shri Ram.
"We are working against Love Jihad, Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah said that, Shri Krishna did Love Jihad. Only Congress party can use bad language against Prabhu Sri Krishna and Sri Ram," Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
On the other hand, the Assam Chief Minister said that, BJP candidate for Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat Kamakhya Prasad Tasa will win from Lumding assembly constituency as well as from Kaziranga parliamentary constituency.
The Lok Sabha polls for 14 seats in Assam will be held in three phases starting on April 19.
In this Lok Sabha election in Assam, the BJP is contesting in 11 out of 14 seats, while its ally parties, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), are contesting in two seats (Barpeta and Dhubri) and UPPL in one seat (Kokrajhar), respectively.
In the Lok Sabha elections of 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 7 of the 14 seats in Assam. Both the Congress and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) claimed three seats each. During the 2019 elections, the BJP increased its seat count to 9, while the Congress maintained its three seats, and the AIUDF won a single seat. (ANI)
