Rahul Gandhi should make allegations based on facts, not on emotions: BJP
New Delhi, Aug. 7 (ANI): Reacting on the defamation case filed against Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on his alleged remarks on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suggested him to make allegations based on facts and not on emotions. "If Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by court, he needs to comply with it. The better option always for any individual is to make allegations based on facts not on emotions. Otherwise these kinds of proceedings are about to emanate," BJP leader Nalin Kohli told ANI. Echoing similar sentiments, another BJP leader G.V.L. Narsimha Rao said, "Gandhi was very irresponsible in making wild allegations against a nationalist organisation, RSS. It is time for him to publically apologise or face the consequences in the court." Gandhi will have to appear before the Kamrup Metropolitan Court on September 29 in connection with a defamation case following his remark during his visit to lower Assam's Barpeta in December last year. Gandhi had alleged that RSS workers had stopped him from entering the Barpeta Satra, a Vaishnavite monastery. His remarks triggered a controversy across the country when he alleged that the women were made to sit at the entrance of the Satra, refusing him entry. An RSS volunteer Anjan Bora had filed a criminal defamation case against Gandhi in the court claiming that he had tarnished the organisation's image by saying he was not allowed by its members to enter Barpeta Satra, a 16th century Vaishnavite monastery in Assam, on December 12, 2015. In the suit, the complainant charged Gandhi with making false statements to defame the RSS. (ANI)
