Patna (Bihar) [India], August 25 (ANI): Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh hit out at the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and claimed that he was shedding crocodile tears over the caste census and giving slogans to confuse people.
Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh said, "Rahul Gandhi is very concerned about the caste census. When Nitish Kumar conducted the census in Bihar and at that time we were in INDIA, then 2 meetings were held, we said that a resolution should be passed on the caste census. But he did not pass the resolution under pressure from Mamata Banerjee. Today he is shedding crocodile tears. When we got the census done, has Rahul Gandhi ever praised it in Bihar to date? He is just giving a slogan to confuse the public."
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi said that the INDIA alliance is calling for a caste census because 90 per cent of the population is being excluded despite possessing the necessary skills and talent.
"90 per cent of the people are not a part of the system. They have the required skill, talent but they are not connected with the system. That's why we are demanding for a caste census."
Reacting to the Modi government's approval of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), which will come into effect from April 1 2025, Singh said that the scheme is very good.
"Government under UPS has also increased its contribution from 14 per cent currently in NPS to 18.5 per cent under UPS, Congress-ruled states should also replicate the model in their states," he added. (ANI)
