Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], May 20 (ANI): Addressing a public rally in Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday launched a scathing attack against Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, saying that they are responsible for the terrorism, naxalism, corruption, and anarchy in the country.
"Whenever there is any crisis in the country, Rahul Gandhi's name comes first among those who run away from the country," says the Chief Minister.
"Corona was the biggest crisis the country has faced since the last century. Was Rahul Gandhi seen addressing the situation anywhere? Did he come to Chandigarh? He did not even come to Uttar Pradesh," he added further.
Hailing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's contribution in dealing with the Corona crisis, he said that the PM addressed the situation by meeting MPs and MLAs. We asked all party workers to serve during the crisis.
He further added, "We tried our best to serve the nation during the COVID period. I, as chief minister, went from village to village. 1 crore Pravasi came to Uttar Pradesh and they had to go to various places in Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and many more places. I made arrangements for everyone. I got 14,000 buses arranged for the safe departure of all of them."
Chandigarh will see a contest between Manish Tewari of the Congress and Sanjay Tandon of the BJP. The BJP won the seat in 2014 and 2019 with Kiron Kher being elected as MP.
Notably, in Punjab, voting for its 13 seats will take place in a single phase, with the seventh and final phase on June 1 seeing voting in Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nandpur Sahib, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala constituencies.
This year, the Lok Sabha polls began on April 19 for 102 seats spread across 21 states.
Following this, Phase 2 was held on April 26; the third phase was held on May 7; and the fourth phase was held on May 13. Voting for Phase 6 is underway on Monday for 49 seats, while Phase 6 is set for May 25, covering 7 states for 57 seats. (ANI)
