Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 7 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday slammed the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over the latter's "vote theft" remark, accusing the Congress leader of lying and maligning the image of Constitutional bodies.
Fadnavis was responding to Rahul Gandhi's recent remark putting "vote theft" allegations on the Election Commission of India (ECI) and said there has been no vote theft in Maharashtra or India.
"Neither has there been theft of votes in Maharashtra nor in any other parts of the nation. 'Rahul Gandhi ke dimaag ki chip chori ho gayi hai aur unki hard disk corrupt ho gayi hai'. Rahul Gandhi is just lying and stealing the mandate of the public (The chip in the mind of Rahul Gandhi has been stolen and his hard disk has been corrupted). He is just trying to suppress his loss by lying. He knows that he will lose in the future; additionally, he is maligning the image of the nation's constitutional bodies. I condemn it, and the public will teach him a lesson in the coming elections," Fadnavis told ANI.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday slammed the Election Commission of India (ECI) and alleged that the elections are "choreographed".
The Congress leader further alleged that the poll body is "destroying evidence" through the directive on only preserving CCTV and webcasting footage of the election process for only 45 days after the whole process is completed, unless the election result is challenged in court.
"The Election Commission is looking to destroy the evidence across the country. It is the 21st century, you can keep as much data as you want in a hard drive, even 10 years old data, but the Election Commission wants to destroy the CCTV footage in 45 days, without giving the voter list. They are colluding with the BJP to destroy the election system in India," Gandhi alleged.
Rahul Gandhi said that the Election Commission is helping the BJP destroy the electoral system in India. (ANI)
