Patna (Bihar) [India], April 22 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his promise of wealth survey in the country, alleging that the Wayanad MP has a "Maoist thought process".
The BJP MP, in a no-holds-barred attack on the Congress, said that the party only "show off" about their concerns for minorities.
"They are talking about minorities in their manifesto almost 16-17 times. Manmohan Singh said that the minorities have the first right to the country's resources. In Andhra Pradesh, they reduced the reservation for SCs and STs to give more reservation to Muslims. The HC quashed that decision twice based on religion," he said while speaking to ANI.
Ravi Shankar Prasad further said that the Opposition bloc, formed to take on the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha elections, can "go to any extent to get votes".
"Congress and the INDI alliance can go to any extent to get votes. Rahul Gandhi said he would investigate the assets of everyone in this country. On the other hand, you have Narendra Modi's government, which is doing everything for everyone, irrespective of caste or religion. They only show off and are doing vote-bank politics. Rahul Gandhi has a Maoist thought process," the BJP MP added.
"Will he get his assets investigated that he accumulated in the National Herald scam," the BJP leader asked.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised the pitch for wealth redistribution in India, saying that his party will conduct a nationwide survey if voted to power to ensure that money is distributed to various sections of society as per their population.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also targeted former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi over his promise of wealth survey in the country.
He warned the people that Congress had set its eyes on earnings and property and that they would take it away and redistribute.
"I want to warn the countrymen. Congress and the INDI alliance have their eyes on your earnings and your property. The 'Shehzada' of Congress says that if their government comes to power, they will investigate who earns how much, who has how many properties," he said while addressing a public rally in Aligarh.
The Congress accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of speaking in a "poisonous language" on April 22 and said that he has several new tactics for diverting attention from real issues.
On April 21, the party hit out at PM Modi over his "redistribution of wealth" remarks targeting the party, saying after facing "disappointment" in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls, the prime minister has now resorted to "lies" and "hate speech" to divert people from the real issues.
Sharing a Congress advertisement on rising prices and unemployment in India on social media platform X, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said, "Unemployment and inflation are at their peak in the country and Narendra Modi says 'everything is fine'. He (Modi) has several new techniques to 'divert from the issues but the end of the business of lies is near," he added. (ANI)
