Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], April 21 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leader CR Kesavan on Monday attacked Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the Election Commission in Boston and said that the latter is embarking on another "Bharat Badnaam Yatra-India abuse Yatra."
"Rahul Gandhi, along with Sam Pitroda, were out on bail in the National Herald case, and both of them, who have been charge sheeted, are now embarking on another Bharat Badnaam Yatra- India abuse Yatra, this time on foreign soil. Rahul Gandhi has once again deplorably attacked India's constitutional institutions, and he has unsuccessfully again tried to undermine India's democracy. Rahul Gandhi has made these statements about the Election Commission in America," Kesavan said.
BJP leader Sambit Patra also attacked Rahul Gandhi, saying that the Congress party is creating an atmosphere of unrest throughout the country.
"This is Rahul Gandhi's old habit of insulting the country on foreign soil... He has been doing this for a long time... ED has mentioned the names of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in its chargesheet, and they could even go to jail for looting the country... Meanwhile, the Congress party is creating an atmosphere of unrest in the entire country... Those who are out on bail of Rs 50,000, if they feel they can destroy the image of this great democracy by going abroad and speaking their then they are totally on the wrong side of the line," Patra said.
BJP national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill mocked Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the EC in Boston and said that he suffered from the "Entitled Child Syndrome" (ECS), further stating that he insulted the nation and blamed the Indian democracy for the sake of covering his failures, which was also his addiction.
Speaking to ANI, Shergill said, "Rahul Gandhi suffers from ECS -Entitled Child Syndrome. Insulting the nation and blaming the Indian democracy for the sake of covering his failures is his addiction...He vents his political frustration on foreign soil. In India, he barely raises questions, is busy in jungle safaris..."
Shergill also questioned why the Congress leader did not speak on the role of the EC in the states where Congress won.
The remarks by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi were made during his address to the Indian diaspora in Boston.
Gandhi had alleged that the Election Commission (EC) in India was "compromised," further stating that there was something fundamentally wrong with the system.
Citing the example of the Maharashtra elections, the Senior Congress leader stated that there was an addition of 65 lakh voters to the voter list in two hours, which was impossible.
"More people voted in Maharashtra than the total number of people in Maharashtra, and this is a fact... the Election Commission gave us a figure in the evening around 5:30 p.m., and in two hours around 7:30 p.m., 65 lakh voters had voted, which is physically impossible..." he claimed, addressing the meeting.
