Rafale row: Arun Jaitley slams Rahul, says 'dynast' can't be above SC or CAG

New Delhi [India], Mar 7 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday slammed Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who demanded an FIR (First Information Report) to be filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rafale jet deal, stating that "no dynast can claim that he is above the Supreme Court or CAG".

Addressing a press conference here along with Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Jaitley said: "The government has repeatedly made its position clear. The Supreme Court has spoken on it. The petitioners are taking one more chance. The CAG has already analysed it. No dynast can claim that he is above the Supreme Court or the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General of India) and that their verdicts and findings don’t apply on them."
“Today’s comment which was made by the Congress party and its president…the facts were completely wrong and the motivation was also collateral. The Congress party has, in the last few days through statements of its senior leaders, boxed itself in a very difficult situation. They are getting high TRPs on Pakistan television. But there is a revulsion as far as domestic opinion in India is concerned," he added.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded an FIR to be filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the Rafale fighter jets deal, adding that there is "enough evidence to prosecute him".
"There is now enough evidence to prosecute the PM in the Rafale Scam. The trail of corruption begins & ends with him. That crucial Rafale files incriminating him are now reported “stolen” by the Govt, is destruction of evidence & an obvious coverup. FIR against Corrupt Modi," Rahul had tweeted.
Responding to Rahul's demand Jaitley said: "Congress' motive to shift the focus and take up an issue (Rafale) which is actually false has been exposed."
Dismissing the opposition’s questions over the multiple airstrikes carried out by the Indian Air Force in Pakistan’s Balakot, Jaitley said: "At present, the main issue is that India countered terror attacks through air strikes and surgical strike. The IAF targeted Jaish camp, the Pakistan-based terror outfit, which took the responsibility of the ghastly terror attack in Pulwama that killed around 40 CRPF soldiers." (ANI)
