"Undemocratic" SP leaders indulge in conspiracies for ulterior motives: BSP

New Delhi [India], Oct. 25 (ANI): Throwing light on yesterday's episode where Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav questioned his son and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav snatched his mike, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Tuesday alleged that the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh does not believe in democracy as their focus as of now is to indulge in conspiracies for ulterior motives. BSP's Sudheendra Bhadauria said the people of the state are extremely aware of the fact that Uttar Pradesh had to suffer because of 'gunda raj' and 'jungle raj'. "Riots took place in Muzaffarnagar then there was Bulandshahr gang-rape. In addition, we witnessed that the SSP was openly murdered in Mathura. Guns and knives were recovered from the prison. So, this reveals that Mulayam Singh, Akhilesh Yadav and the entire Samajwadi Party clan does not believe in constitutional principles and democracy," he told ANI. Bhadauria also used the occasion to take potshots at Mulayam for backing Akhilesh's critic and Samajwadi Party's Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh. "Akhilesh has himself said that (an outsider) for Amar Singh. Now, he (Mulayam) is saying that he is a family member. He has openly questioned Akhilesh and the same has been published in the newspapers today. He very openly said that Akhilesh cannot even win the assembly polls. This is in a way right as he has been the Chief Minister for the last four and a half years but he has never contested the election," he said. Accusing the Samajwadi Party leaders of indulging in conspiracies for nefarious designs, Bhadauria said, "As of now, a conspiracy is on in his (Mulayam) party fold. Every second day we get to hear something new and very soon we will get to know what is in their minds." The BSP's outburst came as Mulayam strongly defended his aide Amar Singh from the onslaught by expelled leader Ram Gopal Yadav and said that there was a conspiracy to frame him. Addressing the media in a much-awaited press conference in Lucknow with his brother and Akhilesh's bete noire Shivpal Yadav, Mulayam started off with the firm assertion that there is not rift within the Yadav family, adding all Samajwadi Party leaders stand united. Asserting that he stood with his son Akhilesh, who was visibly absent from the meeting, the Samajwadi Party supremo added that the chief ministerial candidate for 2017 assembly polls would be announced after the party's victory in next year's elections. When asked if the sacked ministers would be reinstated in the party, he replied, "I leave that to the Chief Minister to decide." "I have dedicated my entire political life towards the Samajwadi Party and have worked towards alleviating the troubles of my people," Mulayam stated while steering clear of all questions regarding any animosity with Akhilesh. The rift in the Samajwadi Party escalated yesterday as Akhilesh and Shivpal failed to come on board despite Mulayam's emotional appeal. The Samajwadi Party boss backed Shivpal and Amar Singh despite his son openly opposing them. During his address at the meeting attended by the Samajwadi Party leaders and workers, Mulayam accused Akhilesh of not giving Shivpal due recognition. Closed door meetings with party seniors and one on one meetings of Mulayam continued till late night yesterday but no truce emerged. (ANI)
