"Punjab police personnel are campaigning here" alleges Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit

Delhi will go to the polls on February 5 and the counting of votes will take place on February 8. A three-way contest is on the cards in Delhi between the ruling AAP, BJP, and Congress. Congress, which was in power for 15 consecutive years in Delhi, has suffered setbacks in the last two assembly elections and has failed to win any seat.

New Delhi [India], January 21 (ANI): Congress candidate from the New Delhi assembly constituency, Sandeep Dikshit alleged on Tuesday that Punjab police personnel are campaigning for the Aam Admi Party and said he has asked the police to conduct an investigation.
On BJP candidate Parvesh Verma alleging that people from Punjab were roaming around in vehicles in Delhi and CCTV cameras were being installed, Dikshit told ANI, "...I have the photographs that Punjab police personnel are campaigning here (in New Delhi constituency). I have sent that (Photographs) to the Station House Officer for the investigation. It's true that many of the outsiders are campaigning for them (AAP).
The Congress candidate also said that the Election Commission must take cognizance.
He added, "I don't know if CCTV cameras are being installed, but if it's true, the Election Commission must take cognizance..."
Parvesh Verma on Tuesday raised security concerns ahead of the Republic Day, alleging that the Punjab Chief Minister, all ministers and MLAs have come only for the New Delhi constituency with thousands of vehicles roaming around having Punjab registration numbers.
Speaking to the media, Verma said, "Punjab CM, all the ministers and MLAs of Punjab have come here only for the New Delhi constituency. Thousands of vehicles having Punjab numbers are moving here - who are there in those vehicles? Republic Day preparations are going on, what big thing those people are going to do that may compromise our security?"
The BJP leader also mentioned that he has filed complaints with both the Election Commission and the police.
"Chinese CCTV cameras are being installed here by the government employees of Punjab. A few people complained to the police as the colony is in proximity to India Gate. When they were caught - they said that AAP had sent them to install CCTV... I have filed a complaint in Election Commission and Police," Parvesh Verma alleged.
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann held a rally in support of AAP candidates in the national capital.
He affirmed that they have fulfilled those promises in Punjab which they did not even make.
"The kind of love and affection that we are getting from the people, I don't think that I need to say much. In Punjab, we have fulfilled our promises, even those promises we didn't make," he said.
AAP dominated the 2020 assembly elections by winning 62 out of 70 seats while the BJP got eight seats. (ANI)
