Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reply to the debate on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale expressed confidence on Wednesday, stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will retain power in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
New Delhi [India], February 7 (ANI): Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reply to the debate on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale expressed confidence on Wednesday, stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will retain power in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
Earlier today, PM Modi said he hopes Kharge's prediction comes true.
"I welcome the '400 seats for the NDA' blessing he has given us," he said.
Kharge, in his remarks, referred to the Bharatiya Janata Party election slogan of "abki baar 400 par.".
"With a current majority of 330-334 seats, this time it...will be above 400..." he said, evoking smiles from BJP benches. However, Kharge quickly added that BJP members have been elected due to PM Modi and the ruling party will not even cross 100 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, Athawale told ANI, "With the help of data, the Prime Minister explained everything. He mentioned Babasaheb Ambedkar and the Constitution several times. He said that he has come to strengthen the Constitution. He also attacked the opposition. He has assured us that going by our work, the public will be with us and we will come back for the third time."
"The public is with us, we will retain power in the coming Lok Sabha polls," he added.
PM Modi, meanwhile, also took a dig at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and said that the grand old party has made a "start-up" for their 'Yuvraj', but he is a "non-starter."
The Prime Minister referred to Rahul Gandhi as 'yuvraj' (prince) and said, "Yuvraj was presented as a start-up, but he turned out to be a non-starter, he neither lifts nor launches."
Earlier on Monday, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress and said that the compulsion of relaunching the product (Rahul Gandhi) repeatedly has led to the closure of the shop of the grand old party.
Taking a dig at Congress, he said the party had an opportunity to emerge as a good opposition but failed to do so.
The Budget Session commenced on January 31 and will conclude on February 9. (ANI)
