Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March 16 (ANI): On the BJP-led NDA setting the target of securing over 400 seats in Lok Sabha polls, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai said on Saturday that the Election Commission should scrutinize whether the BJP is presenting factual data or engaging in manipulation."
"The Election Commission should pay attention to whether they are speaking about their mathematics or they have made some setting."
"If BJP is not contesting 400 seats then how are they talking about crossing 400. They talk about 80 out of 80, is there any truth in it?" Rai said.
The Congress leader further took a dig at the Centre saying that the public is troubled by unemployment, inflation, and corruption... Recruitment of constables was done, but the paper got leaked, and it will affect the elections.
Ajay Rai accused the Centre saying that the government has filled the treasury by selling the forms to applicants.
"A total of 60,000 appointments were made and more than 50 lakh forms were filled. Tthe cost of one form is Rs 400, so imagine how much money the government has received," he added.
Meanwhile, BJP national vice president Baijayant (Jay) Panda, visited Amethi, one of the key electoral battlegrounds in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, on Friday, saying his party will win all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh and sitting MP and Union Minister Smriti Irani will win a second straight term in the Lower House from the constituency.
The country's most populous state also sends the maximum number of members to the Lok Sabha.
Amethi used to be a Congress stronghold before Rahul Gandhi, who currently represents the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency of Kerala in the Lower House, lost to Irani by a margin of about 55,000 votes in the 2019 elections.
The BJP vice president arrived in the constituency for a meeting with party workers, during which he took stock of preparations for the key poll battle. (ANI)
