New Delhi [India], February 27 (ANI): AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan on Thursday questioned the validity of allegations made against him and his party by the BJP on the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, which was tabled in the Delhi Assembly on February 25.
Khan claimed that the CAG report has been with the CBI for a long time, with no action taken and demanded that they prove their allegations of corruption.
"The CAG report they talk about has been with the CBI for a long time now... I demanded that they prove their allegations of corruption... How can they hold elections for Deputy Speaker when all opposition MLAs are suspended? How is it fair?" he told ANI.
"You have come to power by speaking lies (on CAG reports). You should deliver now. Fulfil the promises made to the public," he questioned the Delhi government.
Meanwhile, six-time BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht was elected deputy speaker of the Delhi Assembly on Thursday. His appointment came after Chief Minister Rekha Gupta proposed him for the position.
Bisht recently won the Mustafabad constituency, defeating AAP's Adeel Ahmad Khan by over 17,000 votes.
Speaking to ANI after his appointment, Mohan Singh Bisht said, " I will try my best to meet the expectations and the faith expressed in me by the party. I thank Narendra Modi ji, JP Nadda ji, CM and Cabinet members..."
Further, when asked about the CAG report, he said, "The CAG report will be sent to the PAC. After three months, the PAC will give a full report on it. All CAG reports will be tabled in the Assembly."
The CAG report on the Delhi Excise Policy was tabled in the Delhi assembly on Tuesday, the second day of the assembly session, by the newly elected CM Rekha Gupta.
The CAG reports highlight the alleged irregularities in the Policy that was brought during the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. (ANI)
