New Delhi [India], Mar 12 (ANI): Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday took a jibe at Congress general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who addressed her maiden public rally in Gandhinagar, saying that she did not speak anything new in her speech.
"There is nothing new (what she spoke today). She has been campaigning for the last four elections. There is no impact. She did not say anything new," he told reporters here.
Javadekar claimed that the Congress leaders who participated in the Working Committee meeting on Tuesday, were "nervous" and they have been "spreading lies after lies."
"We thought they (Congress leaders) will tell the truth today since they were in the land of Mahatma Gandhi. Instead, they adopted the path of lies and have been spreading lies after lies. Mahatma Gandhi was known for truthfulness. Mahatma Gandhi and this Gandhi are very different and not the same," he said.
Targetting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Priyanka said earlier on Tuesday in her speech that those who do "badi badi baatein (tall claims)", the people should ask them where is two crore jobs and Rs 15 lakh, which was to come into every account as promised during the last Lok Sabha poll.
The country is built on the foundation of love, harmony, and brotherhood, she said adding that whatever is happening today, however, is "very sad."
Attacking the BJP-led government at the Centre, Priyanka further said, "Those who talk about 'fitrat' (nature), the 'fitrat' of this country is that the winds of hate will be blown away by love."
Slamming the Congress for levelling false allegations in the controversial Rafale deal, Javadekar said, "They believe that if they continue to shout lies, it will change to the truth. But such things will not happen."
Continuing his tirade against the party, Javadekar remarked, "They are questioning the valour of our armed forces. They are demanding proof of airstrikes. Earlier, they demanded proof of surgical strikes. They support those who say 'desh ko tukde tukde karenge' (we will break the country into pieces) and say it is freedom of expression. This is not freedom of expression."
Raking up the farm loan waivers' issue, Union Minister Javadekar claimed that the Congress was "lying" in this regard and is "playing" with the sentiments of the farmers.
"In Congress-ruled states, they said that they waived the loans of farmers. This is a bigger lie. They are lying. In Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje government had waived off Rs 8,000 crore," he said.
"They are lying in name of waiving farm loans. Even in Punjab, despite being in power for two years, they did not do this. In Madhya Pradesh, they are playing with the sentiments of farmers. Suicide rates of farmers are increasing day by day," Javadekar said. (ANI)
